Cleanema was developed by Rafael Posse (born with ARM), in response to his need for comfort and privacy while applying his daily enemas for health reasons. Cleanema is a portable device that allows its users to apply enemas anywhere without another person’s assistance. It guarantees privacy and mobility. Furthermore, Cleanema facilitates the process of mixing and transferring of the solution. It is more hygienic than most of its substitutes and it is easy to store at home.

The most important characteristic of the whole system is that the structure that supports the container may be installed anywhere. The height is enough to guarantee that the solution enters the body through the action of gravity. These facts guarantee the user the possibility of applying the enema without any help.

The container is a plastic bottle, 3.9 in. (10 cm.) in diameter by 9.8 in. (25 cm.) in height. It is practical when it comes to preparing it or transferring solutions from one container to the other. It is, also, easy to clean or wash (dishwasher save). The container is translucent; allowing the user to see how much of the solution has entered the intestine.
